Baja 500 Race Map

Holding a form of communication is completely necessary when taking part in a off road desert race such as the Baja 500. Baja 500 racers are advised to have someone tracking your progress and performing visual checks during the race in the event that an emergency occured. There are a variety of means of communication and all Baja racers should have a plan of what they would do in the event of an accident during the Baja 500.

All  racers should pack all necessary tools, food, water, GPS, in addition to communication devices such as an Iridium satellite phone or race radios. Most Baja racers find that for an afforadble price, they can have access to these advanced communication devices like satellite phones, advanced tracking, and pci radios. Although you may be on a tight budget, these devices can help you immensely in the case of an emergency in the middle of a desert. The satellite service is based on "line of sight" technology and enables users to communicate in any remote region where wireless or land line networks are limited, nonexistent or developing. Being prepared for anything is one of the easiest ways to ensure your Baja race trip is a successful one, and is also a great way to let go of some of the stress associated with preparing for the Baja 500.
